Design Details

SLACK, PROGRESSIVE GEOMETRY

Enduro geometry needn’t be the sole preserve of long travel full suspension bikes and the RC629 is a good example of translating latest geo into impressive performance

140-150MM TRAVEL

When the trail suddenly becomes a serious challenge the last thing you want to do is back off- and we think 140-150 mil’s of travel hits the sweet spot for full gas control

STABLE AND COMFORTABLE FEEL

Staying relaxed and centered on your bike is the Instructors mantra and we’ve ensured you’re preset into the best body position on the RC629…short rear and steep seat tube work in harmony with the reach and head angle to let you rip with confidence and style

LITTLE DETAILS

Fitted with an ISCG Mount should you want to run a bash guard and internal dropper routing with outer cable tucked underneath the downtube

29 x 2.5 OR MIXED BOOSTED WHEELS

We've opened up the stays and subtly curved the seat tube to give more breathing room for a 2.5" tyre on the new RC629- essential when you want to keep that poppy reactive feel provided by the RC629's short chain stays. 27.5 x 29" compatible

REYNOLDS 853 STEEL

The qualities of such an iconic tube set go beyond its reputation for a long trouble free lifespan - its subtle flex and resilience imbue the RC629 with unprecedented levels of comfort and control

DESIGNED & TESTED IN NORTH YORKSHIRE, MADE IN TAIWAN

Over the years we’ve covered thousands of miles on our steel hardtail designs sweating the details to improve their manufacturing quality- we’re proud of their impressive reputation for strength and durability

WIDE RANGE OF MOUNTS

Rear frame mounting points for rack options should you want to go on a weekend adventure

SLIDING DROPOUTS

Pace adjustable Slideout System so you can tune the geo or change for our aftermarket SRAM T-Type Dropout Kit

SUMMARY

A climbing goddess that feels planted and builds confidence when the trail falls off into the unknown abyss.

Based around the same platform as the original and best seller we've redesigned the RC629 to bring it closer to its roots as a hucking and hustling hardtail down the steeps without compromising grip traction up those loose climbs.

What's changed? Well we've adjusted the front end to accommodate longer travel, slackened out the headtube a touch, steepened up the seat tube, increased tyre clearance without compromising the already short rear end and made a few other tweaks, all finished with a fresh paint job.

Building on the RC529s Success our new RC629 platform has both the top tube and bottom bracket slammed low so you're 'in' the cockpit rather than perched up high. This enables you to drop the saddle way down low for hooning down your fastest trail. With an ultra-short chainstay, a steeper seat tube angle and just the right amount of reach you’re well balanced within the centre of the bike. It climbs just like a good trail bike should but gives you confidence when the trail falls off a cliff.

The RC629 oozes quality with its perfect welds, blend of British Reynolds and Pace Chromo tubing, and deep, lustrous, tough gloss paint. And with a Pace hardtail it's strangely reassuring that you’re riding a bike that will probably outlive you.

Adjustable/replaceable CNC machined Slideouts or T-Type convertible dropouts, full rack mounts, ISCG tabs, subtle reinforcing gussets, room for large section tyres (right up to a 27.5x2.8” if you fancy a mullet configuration) and fitted with an Invisiframe chainstay protector, Cable Clips, latest 2025 Hope seatclamp and Burgtec thru axle, the R629 is fully loaded and ready to rip.

I’m always on the cusp of medium and large bikes. So going up to something this long felt like a bit of a risk based on the numbers alone. I need not have worried. The seated position is really sorted and the bike climbs really well, finding grip and maintaining momentum. Zero issue with feeling too stretched out.

It’s big but not excessively so. And it likes pointing down. A lot. Descending and on rolling singletrack it feels really planted and calm and you build speed as a result.

Might need a bigger front rotor. Or better reactions! Probably both. But it’s no barge - it’s long and slack but without compromising handling. Not quite sure how Pace have managed to do that but I’m not complaining.

I wanted to build a full on hardtail for a bit of everything and I reckon this might very well be it. It is giving me the same vibes as a couple of 853 hardtails I’ve owned in the past (a Cotic Soul and Kona Explosif) but clearly has the potential to hit harder and go further.

Happy days!

And yes, the mismatched Maxxis logos are doing my head in. 😀
